Intro to CranioSacral Therapy

Are you a massage therapist who is interested in the rhythmic flow of the body’s natural movements?  Maybe you have filled your practice with deep tissue massage clients and now your body is asking for more subtle therapies to be added to your menu of services. Or perhaps you realize the powerful and permanent shifts that can take place in your clients when you use light touch modalities with them.

“I had been in extreme chronic pain for almost 10 years when I met Dana and CranioSacral Therapy.  I was unable to work with my hands because of intense wrist pain and numbness in my fingers, and I couldn’t drive long distances without needing several days to recover from the back and neck/shoulder pain that was sure to follow.  After a series of treatments, my pain has decreased over 80 % and I find that I can function normally for the first time in nearly a decade.  I can play with my grandchildren now without fear of pain, and I have finally been able to drive 4 hour distances without the need for recovery time.  I am ecstatic and profoundly grateful.”  ~Cynthia J.

I remember when I took my first class in CST back in 2003.  I enjoyed the class, I learned a lot of really great tools for my “toolbox”, and I returned home and integrated CranioSacral therapy techniques into my practice immediately.  I loved it so much that I received even more training.  Do you know what I realized?  After using CranioSacral therapy in my practice for a period of time, I realized that the way I looked at illness in the body (and my role as a therapist) shifted completely.  And I also noticed that CranioSacral therapy BECAME my toolbox; it was no longer just a “tool”.  Now every treatment I give has a “cranial touch”, meaning that, even if I am giving a massage treatment, my mind and my touch are coming from a CranioSacral perspective.  Needless to say, my practice and palpation skills deepened dramatically.

“CranioSacral work is a light-touch therapy that helps the body gently heal and unwind trauma from the inside out, helping to reduce inflammation and increase tissue mobility. Receiving craniosacral work helps players recover faster and get back in the game sooner.”  Read more of this article here:  CranioSacral Therapy Benefits Football Players
